Life in the Gray Zone
It's still hard to believe we are locked down. It is so incredibly challenging to fully grasp what is happening but somehow we are adapting just the same. Life, oh life.
I have an 18 month old who has transitioned from baby to toddler over the past 6 weeks. Walking, BIG emotions and talking- his favorite words are ‘MORE’ and 'NO’ so that keeps us on our toes ;) He also keeps me from sinking into a sloth-like state, which in all honesty, i would love to sink into every now and again. I think one of the hardest parts for almost everyone is sitting in uncertainty; not knowing when we will be able to roam about freely and fearlessly again. It is very challenging to sit in the gray zone. I have found there is so much gray zone in parenthood so i feel like i have been in a training camp for 18 months, not that it makes this much easier.
If i have learned anything, it's that it takes patience and presence to sit in the unknown- whether it be motherhood or life during a pandemic. There is no formula. There are no answers. Only today. Only this breath. Only this moment.
In the classes I teach we explore techniques on how to find peace in this moment. How to calm a tense mind through movement & breath and how to ease pain & tension in the body through the power of the mind. We are a whole unit that needs to be explored as one symbiotic entity.
The classes that I teach at Reflections Online are called Senior Movement but i want to be clear that they are open to ALL ages, all body types, all levels of movers and shakers. ZERO yoga or exercise experience is required. There are no beginner and advanced poses- just human movement. Each class is a whole experience that does not require your attendance in any previous class of mine or any others. However, people who attend regularly cultivate a strong practice of body/mind awareness that they take with them into their everyday lives. The more you attend the more comfortable you will get in the exercises and the more tools you will gather to have a positive experience in your body/mind on a daily basis. One of my new regularly attending students who is a newbie to mindful movement/yoga (she is 72) emails me often telling me her body is finally smiling! And that makes me smile SO BIG.
Well folks, that's all for now. Even in the gray zone the flowers keep blooming, babies continue to be born and we can still create positive change within ourselves
